Inspiration

Recently, we came across a BBC article reporting a teenager having seizure was saved by online gamer - 5,000 miles away in Texas, via alerting medical services. Surprisingly, the teenager's parents weren't aware of his condition despite being in the same home.

What it does

Using remote photoplethysmography to measure one's pulse rate using webcam, and alerting a friend/guarding via SMS if major irregularities are detected.

How we built it

We created a React app that implements some openCV libraries in order to control the webcam and detect the user's face to try to detect the heart rate. We deployed onto Google Cloud Engine and made use of StdLib to handle sending SMS messages.

Challenges we ran into

Java > Javascript

Accomplishments that we're proud of

Cloud deployment, making a React app, using Stdlib, using Figma.
