Inspiration
The pandemic gave everyone around the world a unique medical experience that's slowly starting to wear off as covid restrictions are lifted. However, there’s plenty of people that deal with more long term medical experiences, whether it be a mental or physical health-related condition that they’re living with. While they are able to connect with one another through existing social media platforms, many with more rare medical conditions often struggle with finding people that share similar medical experiences.
What it does
THRIVE is a platform that strives to connect different people with similar medical experiences. Through creating a platform dedicated to that goal, we want to foster a diverse, inclusive, and supportive community that focuses on building connections for/with patients within the healthcare system. Users are able to join small communities within the platform that are specific to individual medical conditions, as well as share/learn resources about different conditions.
How we built it
- Front-end: used HTML, CSS, Javascript and Pug for the main interface of landing site
- Design: used Figma to create prototype of THRIVE's platform
Challenges we ran into
Since this was my first solo hackathon, I faced a couple challenges in creating the front-end for the platform's landing site as well as designing what the interface would look like on Figma.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
I'm proud to have developed a project that represents my interest in healthcare and building new connections with different individuals.
What we learned
I learned a lot about web development languages and design tools while building this project :)
What's next for THRIVE
I hope to continue work on this project after the hackathon and implement all of its design features.
