Inspiration
We were inspired by sites like Depop and Facebook and finding a way to build a similar site for university campuses.
What it does
Users who have a campus email and provide id verification are able to create a THRFT 100 profile. From there they can buy and sell furniture and clothing to other members of their school community. This provides a way to work towards a more circular economy. It also provides a safer way to sell and buy as you know you are meeting with a real member of your school and you are required to meet up at a public place on campus.
How we built it
We used: -visual studio code to program in javascript, HTML and css to code our website -github to collaborate on our project -figma to create our UI/UX design
Challenges we ran into
As this was all of our first time participating in a Hackathon and we all have fairly limited computer science knowledge we were challenged in figuring out how to just get started.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
For how long we spent simply figuring out Visual Studio Code and Github we are incredibly proud that we have something to functional to show for all of our hard work and time spent on this project. We are also very proud of our UI/UX design.
What we learned
We had never used Visual Studio Code, Github to collaborate on projects, Javascript, html or css. We learned so much about what these all are and we feel like we have a foundation of skills to build upon to kill it at our next hackathon. Hackher '25 watch out!
What's next for THRFT 100
Because we have learned so much building the start of our website, we would love to continue working on our code to practice our web development skills. We think our idea would be popular on campus and would love to work towards creating a functional website as we continue to develop our programming skills,
