Inspiration
Phishing, scams, malicious URLs, suspicious QR codes, and harmful online content are becoming increasingly common. We wanted to build a practical tool that could help users detect digital threats before interacting with them, which inspired us to create ThreatLens AI.
What We Built
ThreatLens AI is an AI-powered cybersecurity platform that analyzes URLs, messages, screenshots, and QR codes and provides risk scores, threat classifications, evidence, recommendations, and scan history. We also built a Chrome Extension that allows users to inspect the current webpage directly.
How We Built It
We used a full-stack architecture with a modern frontend, backend APIs, authentication, database-backed user history, AI-powered analysis, and a Manifest V3 Chrome Extension. Both the website and extension use the same backend security infrastructure.
Challenges
Our main challenges were making analysis evidence-based, integrating AI with real security signals, handling authentication and user isolation, and securely connecting the Chrome Extension with the backend.
What We Learned
We learned full-stack development, AI integration, cybersecurity analysis, secure authentication, database management, Chrome Extension development, API integration, and production deployment.
