🌟 Inspiration

Online forums are full of valuable discussions, but they often become overwhelming due to long threads, repeated arguments, and lack of clarity. Important insights get buried under noise. I was inspired to explore how AI could make community discussions easier to understand and more productive without changing how people naturally communicate. ThreadSense was born from the idea of turning messy conversations into clear, actionable knowledge.

🧠 What I Learned

Through this project, I learned how to design a product around a headless backend, where the focus shifts from data storage to user experience and intelligence. I also gained insight into how AI features like summarization, sentiment analysis, and semantic similarity can dramatically improve usability when applied thoughtfully. Most importantly, I learned how strong UI and clear storytelling can make a technical product instantly understandable.

🛠️ How I Built It

ThreadSense was built as a modern web application using a generative frontend approach. The UI simulates a realistic forum experience with threads, posts, metadata, and navigation. On top of this structure, I designed an AI intelligence layer that conceptually analyzes thread data to generate concise summaries, sentiment and toxicity indicators, and related thread recommendations based on meaning rather than keywords. The focus was on demonstrating how forum data can be transformed into insights through AI, rather than building a traditional forum from scratch.

🚧 Challenges Faced

One of the main challenges was deciding what not to build. With limited time, I focused on clarity, realism, and impact instead of overengineering features. Another challenge was presenting AI functionality in a way that felt believable, useful, and easy for judges to understand within seconds. Balancing simplicity with innovation was key throughout the project.

ThreadSense shows how forums can evolve from static discussion boards into intelligent, insight-driven platforms. By combining a headless forum structure with AI-powered understanding and a polished frontend, the project demonstrates a scalable vision for the future of online communities.
