Inspiration
Inspired by the children in our emergency school, young children who have embraced the challenges of this global pandemic with determination and joy, they have been empowered to take action believing that they can make a difference, however small to all those around them.
What it does
This book seeks to empower children all over the world to work together creating a global force which can and will change the world.
How I built it
We came up with the idea for the text and then experimented with line drawings. Once we had agreed the shape and flow of the book, Katie's creativity took over and the book gained a life of it's own!
Challenges I ran into
The timeframe was our biggest challenge. We produced the book in just under two weeks.
Accomplishments that I'm proud of
Seeing the vision become a reality through the colourful and imaginative illustrations. Each child has a vibrancy and joy which just emanates from every page. Collectively the children in this book are going to become the global force to combat the virus.
What I learned
There are so many possibilities for communicating through the medium of story and story telling - this is just the start of a much bigger project.
What's next for Threads of Hope
We are sending it out as widely as possible - other charities and organisations have expressed an interest in publishing our books so we will work with them to see what's possible
