Inspiration

What it does

๐Ÿ’ก Inspiration

Most hackathon apps treat Reddit like a shallow billboard. We wanted a game built entirely on Reddit's native architectural DNA.

๐ŸŽฎ What it does

  • Territory Map: A strategic 10x10 grid canvas.
  • Comment Commands: Rigid tags act as tactical moves.
  • Upvote Multipliers: Karma scores directly boost sector defense.

๐Ÿ› ๏ธ How we built it

  • Frontend Interface: Engineered using web technologies inside Base44.
  • Platform Wrapper: Integrated seamlessly via Reddit Devvit webview.
  • Code Syncing: Deployed cleanly from a public GitHub repository.

โš ๏ธ Challenges we ran into

  • Comment Parsing: Filtering out non-formatted chat spam.
  • Rate Limits: Ingesting live nested comment tree data.
  • UI Sizing: Keeping the canvas fully responsive within iframes.

๐Ÿ† Accomplishments we are proud of

  • Zero Slop: Avoiding unoriginal trivia or Wordle clones.
  • Deep Integration: Gamifying organic user behaviors successfully.

๐Ÿš€ What's next for Thread Wars

  • Advanced Canvas: Upgrading to a 2D Phaser engine.
  • Persistence: Launching continuous multi-subreddit seasonal tournaments.
