Inspiration

  • Young people many times have amazing ideas, but they lack spaces where they can express them freely without fear of being judged or restricted. We wanted to create a platform that not only gives them this space but also empowers them to refine, battle-test, and grow their ideas into something bigger. Their idea can be a future project or even a company, maybe a belief that catches many people or more!

What it does

Thoughty is a digital hub for youth innovation. It allows users to:

  • Share unlimited ideas in Thoughty Pods at any stage.
  • Test their ideas in Idea Battles, competing for votes.
  • Earn Mind Tokens and build a score through the Gamification Engine so they later get recommended by others and be heard even more.
  • Explore creativity with Brainstorm Roulette and Multiverse, powered by AI for fresh perspectives.
  • Receive personalized guidance from Mind Mentor, an AI that tracks ideas, suggests books, and generates progress reports.

How we built it

  • Frontend: React TypeScript for a clean, dynamic, and interactive interface.
  • Backend: Django + Django REST Framework for the backend and API.
  • AI Layer: Integrated GROQ API for AI mentor and AI voting in Battles. ## Challenges we ran into
  • Ensuring AI guidance feels supportive, not prescriptive.
  • Integrating multiple moving parts (React TS, Django REST, LLMs) smoothly
  • Finding free services to host our platform and we got very very limited resources. ## Accomplishments that we're proud of
  • Built a functional ecosystem where youth can openly share and grow ideas.
  • Making a very comfortable and smooth UI/UX for the project.
  • Making features work out of the box without bugs that when somebody visits or uses our site, he will say: Who engineered this? ## What we learned
  • How to blend gamification with AI-driven mentorship since it was our first time, but it wasn't a big deal.
  • The importance of psychological safety when designing for youth communities.
  • Practical lessons on scaling and connecting frontend + backend + AI in a good efficient way.
  • A special lesson to my heart and it is that innovation sometimes comes from enabling others to innovate. ## What's next for Thoughty
    • Share it with many users for testing and getting feedbacks.
    • Expanding AI mentorship to include real-time collaboration between users.
    • Adding project incubation features to take ideas from concept to reality.
    • Partnering with educational and entrepreneurial organizations to connect Thoughty users with real-world opportunities.
