Inspiration
- Supporting my own learning style of chasing rabbit holes
- Experience with boring student-tracking signals in learning management systems
- Stanford CS professor Chris Piech's Learning Blossoms (https://stanford.edu/~cpiech/demos/research/blossoms.html)
What it does
- Tracks questions and misconceptions, allow student to add/remove single/multiple items through UI controls/text
- Generates concepts at 4 levels (center, abstraction, sibling, child) to help direct knowledge growth
- Identify connections that may not be known, and prompt further compare and contrast
How I built it
- 8 days Ideation. Check out my product design notes, implementation only covered a tiny portion (https://app.notion.com/p/All-Things-Agentic-3c376fd8e60980ad91ddf3d2986db028?source=copy_link)
- Summarized Ideas into slides for Check In Meeting: https://drive.google.com/file/d/1y75rLMepl05s8nYVSdttL1SWAKZqvVlJ/view?usp=drive_link

Challenges I ran into
- Most difficult is figuring out data sync and state management between front end which may need to be debounced (changing nodes coordinates) and backend
- Second biggest difficulty is trying to add determinism to ADK 1 (because CopilotKit has little ADK 2 example), then getting the wrong mental model of how often instruction provider runs (thought it's per invocation, actually per tool call/turn, leading to extra database writes that mess up state)

Accomplishments that I proud of
- Knew the hackathon only on 21 Aug, challenged myself thoroughly, did whatever it takes to get my idea into the world, started with no knowledge of ADK, not much in agents, React, Typescript, ending with much stronger fullstack development skill
- Expressed to fullest extent my "Measure twice cut once" style of work, only started coding 29 Aug
- Discovering the Agent cannot forget past chat turns (which repopulates deleted items), and it's both bug and a feature (spaced repetition reminding student to revise)
What I learned
- Passion beats knowledge, good plan and purpose beats building for the sake of it
- Dogfooding my own product actually taught me new things
What's next for UpRabbit
- Implementing the rest of the 4 features on last slide at the end of demo video
- Finding someone as passionate to build an Edtech company together that revolutionizes how people consume and create learning material. Improve the whole education ecosystem
Built With
- copilotkit
- python
- typescript
