Inspiration

The idea for Thothr was born from a personal need to capture meaningful predictions and reflections. Often, we set goals or make predictions that eventually come true, and I wanted a platform that could hold those moments and reveal them at the right time. Inspired by the concept of time capsules and personal growth, Thothr was created to help users document their thoughts and track how their predictions and milestones evolve over time.

What it does

Thothr allows users to create time-locked posts that remain hidden until a specified future date. Whether it’s personal goals, future predictions, or reflections, users can share their posts with friends, groups, or keep them private. The app notifies users when the reveal date arrives, offering a unique way to revisit and reflect on their past thoughts and see how much they’ve grown or achieved.

How I built it

Thothr was built using Swift Vapor for the backend, providing robust user authentication, post creation, and time-locking functionality. The app’s frontend is powered by SwiftUI, making it highly responsive with a clean and modern interface.

Challenges we ran into

One of the main challenges was implementing the time-locking system and ensuring that posts remained hidden until the specified reveal date. Another challenge was optimizing the user interface to maintain simplicity while providing meaningful customization options for users.

Accomplishments that I'm proud of

I'm proud of creating a seamless experience where users can create, track, and reveal their time-locked posts with ease. Building a robust backend with Swift Vapor was a significant achievement.

What I learned

Building Thothr taught me a lot about time-sensitive features, and optimizing user flows. I gained deeper insights into Swift Vapor for backend development.. The importance of UX design also became clear, as I worked to create a clean, intuitive interface for users.

What's next for Thothr

Next, I plan to introduce multimedia support, allowing users to create time-locked posts with videos and audio to make their future reflections even more vivid and personal. Additionally, I aim to expand the social features of the app, introducing more options for group collaboration and sharing, where users can create time-locked posts within groups and collectively track progress toward shared goals.

The app will also receive enhanced analytics, allowing users to gain deeper insights into their personal growth. Users will be able to view statistics about their completed goals, success rates, and the consistency of their time-locked posts, helping them better track their progress over time.

Post templates will also be introduced to make it easier for users to quickly create posts for various milestones, whether it’s a fitness goal, career objective, or personal reflection. These templates will offer customizable options, simplifying the process of setting up new posts.

The notification system will also be enhanced to provide users with more timely and customizable alerts for when their posts are revealed. Users will have the ability to set reminders for upcoming reveals and milestones, ensuring they never miss an important moment.

Lastly, I plan to implement a subscription model offering premium features, such as access to exclusive post templates, advanced analytics, and enhanced notifications. Users subscribing to premium plans will also have the ability to send time-locked posts directly to friends or groups and enjoy additional cloud storage for their multimedia posts. The subscription tiers will likely include monthly and annual plans, providing flexibility based on user needs.

Long-term, I hope to expand Thothr to other platforms and grow the user base, providing more ways for people to capture their future in a personal and meaningful way.
