Thondaria: Wings of Valor was inspired by the idea of resurrecting a forgotten pulp heroine and imagining what her legacy might look like if her character had evolved across decades of fictional media history. We wanted to explore how stories change as cultures reinterpret them, and how a hero can gain power not from one creator, but from being reinvented again and again.
The project grew from the fascination with “lost media,” pulp archives, and the cultural myth-making that occurs when fans, studios, and nations adopt a character as their own. Thondaria started as a small, obscure Mississippi pulp creation — but we imagined her becoming a symbol whose identity expanded across continents.
The inspiration was to blend nostalgia, creativity, and global storytelling into a single documentary that felt like discovering a hidden legacy spanning nearly 100 years of imaginary comics, films, TV shows, and international adaptations.
At its core, the project is a love letter to heroic fiction, worldbuilding, and the cultural power of shared mythology.
