Have you ever wanted to enjoy the ultimate experience of your early 2000's nostalgic dreams?! Yes? Well then Thomas' Old Boomer Game is just right for youuuuuuuuuu!
Thomas' Old Boomer Game is a replication of the early 2000's game Raid The House and serves just like the original!
We built Thomas' Old Boomer Game using HTML as well as Javascript (as well as Javascript canvas).
First and foremost: just being able to match the mouse to the position of the enemies. Second, we had a tough time implementing the audio files into the game as it would not cooperate with VSCode's LiveShare. Finally, we were stuck for a while on implementation in general as there were multiple points in which we had to google the answer to something we were stuck on.
As we were able to conquer our first challenge, we were pretty proud of that. Also, since 2 of the 3 teammates were complete beginners to hackathons (and the third was rusty at best in Javascript) this was a huge accomplishment seeing as how this was something done (not planned) in 12 hours' time.
Michael says: I am a complete beginner at Javascript so I learned the basics of Javascript and how to apply it to canvas. Thomas says: I learned... I gained a lot of experience through collaboration with others. Hao says: I re-learned how to utilize Javascript's canvas features once more.
What's next for Thomas' Old Boomer Game? Well, we are planning to include more stuff into it and possibly polish it a bit more before we unleash this olden eldritch horror onto the lives of many!
