Inspiration

Your choices are everything. The clothes you wear and the brands you use are an integral part to who you are. Students in middle and high school especially constantly rely on others’ opinions in order to make more confident choices. We believe that creating an app to gather opinions in realtime will accelerate the process and thus lead to more confidence.

What it does

This or This allows users to create new polls for their friends to fill out. A feed shows polls to another user to fill out. After a choice is made, statistics are made available to both the poll creator and poll taker.

I had the original idea and I worked on the front end. I programmed in Swift and created the UI as well as integrating the backend. I also did all the public speaking and delivered the pitch.

John Herrick
I worked on the backend. Basically the backend is written in PHP + MySql, which are pretty dated technologies. However, my familiarity with these technologies allowed me to write the backend faster and incorporate more features. The backend can create questions, convert questions to JSON format, vote, count votes, accept uploaded pictures and link them to the database, and also handle multiple users. The backend code is accessible in the Github repo under server.
