Inspiration:

We were inspired to create this project after listening to the Keynote speaker, Megan Underwood, talk about how women usually use different words in their resume to describe themselves than men. These words usually put women at a disadvantage which we thought was unfair.

What it does

Our project does different things depending on where in your resume building process you are at. If you have not started yet our program will give you tips on how to start it and what to include. If you are almost done our code scans your resumes and finds words that are not as strong and gives you better words to replace them with. If you are in the middle it will let you choose whether to get tips or to get your resume scanned.

How we built it

We used C++ to create our program. We used our experience with reading files and if statements to built our program.

Challenges we ran into

We had two separate ideas for the hackathon but we could not figure out how to make them one. We spent a lot of time coming up with new ideas and going through a trial and error process before we figured out how to make them one.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

We're very proud to have come to our first hackathon and create a useful project that could help others. We only started coding this school year and are very happy with what we have made.

What we learned

We learned a lot as this was a completely new experience for us. We came in not knowing how hackathons work but we are able to leave feeling accomplished and proud.

What's next for this.mcSri

There is so much we can do with this project We want to expand it and make it more user friendly and also make the database for words larger. Eventually we could even create a website and give more specific options depending on career type.
