Inspiration The inspiration comes from a card game I developed that involves creating and exploring different parallel worlds—after all, everyone has once longed to go to another world. Therefore, I wanted to blend mythology, machinery, and mystical elements to construct a World Tree-structured worldview.
What it does This short film serves as the opening chapter, or Episode 1, of this world. It introduces the story of a young person, oppressed by life, who obtains power and begins to explore different worlds. It also sets the stage for the rich and expansive world-building that will follow.
How we built it I used Gemini to complete the script and storyboard. I provided the AI with the existing lore and stories from my card game for analysis, allowing it to generate a new story based on the established material. Following this, I used AI drawing tools combined with video software to produce the storyboards and dynamic motions. Finally, I used editing software to splice all these elements together.
Challenges we ran into The main challenge was the consistency of the scene backgrounds. Since AI drawing tools primarily generate flat images, maintaining a unified scene across different shots was very difficult. I had to experiment with numerous methods to make the transition between scenes and shots look more natural.
Accomplishments that we're proud of Previously, my work was limited to promotional trailers or music videos that merely strung together shots. This time, I achieved a complete narrative and successfully maintained continuity in both action points and cinematography.
What we learned I learned a lot by finding ways to overcome the various technical issues that arose. By comparing the video effects of different types of AI tools, I gained a much deeper understanding of their capabilities and limitations.
What's next for This is my AI short film entry. I hope you like it.
