Inspiration
ThermoJet was born during Nigeria’s diesel crisis. Mr. Ola, a carton producer, struggled daily with the high cost of running his 350 KVA diesel generator. His challenge inspired me to develop a safer and more affordable gas-powered alternative.
What It Does
ThermoJet is a modular gas heater designed for safe, efficient combustion in ovens, dryers, boilers, kilns, corrugating machines, and more. It replaces traditional electric or diesel heating systems, cutting operating costs by up to 80%. ThermoJet eliminates open flames by using a perforated stainless-steel chamber with a wire mesh, which distributes heat evenly. It is customizable in size, shape, and length, with optional auto-ignition and airflow control.
How We Built It
Over three months of trial and error, I solved key challenges such as achieving stable combustion inside enclosed chambers and designing the correct perforation pattern. With little online support, I relied on hands-on prototyping and intense focus. The system was first successfully tested on a corrugating machine.
Challenges Faced
Achieving stable combustion in enclosed systems
Tuning the gas-to-air ratio
Lack of accessible technical documentation
Funding limitations
Key Accomplishments
Reduced heating cost by up to 7 3rd0% compared to electric or diesel systems
Developed a flame-controlled burner safe for enclosed spaces
Successfully tested on a corrugating machine
Sparked the design of a next-generation industrial bakery oven
What We Learned
Persistence, focus, and solving real local problems can lead to breakthrough innovations. When the need is real, practical solutions emerge.
What’s Next
Finalize the industrial gas-powered bakery oven prototype
Complete the ThermoJet patent application
Launch pilot testing in Lagos-based bakeries
Scale up production for energy-challenged African markets
