The idea was based off of wanting to help specialists working in the field of mental health. After looking at several medical treatments, it became clear the the vast majority of treatments required a trained professional to show any effectiveness at all. It was with this in mind, that we decided to assist those helping patients instead of helping the patients ourselves.

What it does

Therapy Messenger is a messaging service used for therapists to talk to their patients and easily take notes on their conversations. It provides and interface where individual messages can be saved with tags or custom notes attached to them.

How I built it

We used Firebase and Angular for the front end and back end development.

Challenges I ran into

Our group had a very difficult time deciding on an idea to make. Most of us had very little background knowledge on the topic of mental health and so it took many hours of research to come to an idea.

Accomplishments that I'm proud of

What I learned

From the research that we did, we learned a lot about mental health illnesses, their treatments, as well as many problems that caretakers may face. It was also a good refresher on the technologies associated with creating a website.

What's next for Therapy Messenger

We would also like to provide functionality for voice calls since that's where most therapy counseling sessions have been held recently due to covid.
