Inspiration We noticed how overwhelming it can be for patients and families to search for clinical trials. Many existing tools are filled with medical jargon and unclear instructions, which often discourages people from continuing their search.
What it does TheraCare connects patients to relevant clinical trials in their area through a simple and friendly interface. It rewrites trial information in plain language so users can quickly understand eligibility and next steps.
How we built it We began by mapping the patient journey to identify key pain points in the search process. Then we connected a backend API to public clinical trial data and used a matching algorithm to filter results based on user inputs.
Challenges we ran into One major challenge was making sure our tool delivered results quickly while processing large datasets. Another was keeping the language accurate yet easy for patients without medical backgrounds to understand.
Accomplishments that we're proud of We built a working prototype that successfully finds and simplifies trial information. Our testers told us the design felt approachable and encouraged them to explore more trials.
What we learned We learned how important clarity and trust are when working in healthcare technology. We also improved our ability to collaborate effectively on a project that required technical and design skills.
What's next for TheraCare We plan to add real-time AI chat support to help users ask questions during their search. We also want to create a multilingual version so more communities can access the service.
