Inspiration

Everyone has lost something because of this pandemic. Someone has lost a loved one or a job. Some others have given up on their daily routine.

What it does

Then Covid Came is a storytelling platform that allows people to share their thoughts on how COVID-19 has impacted their goals and expectations for 2020. You can browse other people's tales and send them virtual hugs.

How I built it

The platform is built upon a Firebase backend. The PoC has been built on Android, but I am not confident about sharing my code as of now, so I am only sharing the wireframes.

Challenges I ran into

I am an Android engineer mostly focusing on the UI, so it was the first time for me interacting with Cloud Firestore

Accomplishments that I'm proud of

I'm happy with the wireframes I was able to draw in a very short time (I only worked on the design part for a few hours)

What I learned

I've learnt more about NoSQL databases!

What's next for Then Covid Came

As this was supposed to be a web project, the first meaningful thing would be making a web version of it. Then I would add Social integration (Twitter first!), user replies to stories and a "When covid ends" section
