Inspiration

Our inspiration came from apps like tinder, varsity tutors, and Chegg. We felt that there's a need for easy access in finding new people you wouldn’t normally find with elements of LinkedIn where you can connect with people, but with LinkedIn sometimes you don’t know who to even connect with. This will give you a good pool of people within your industry of interest to hopefully connect with.

What it does

It connects professionals who want to give back to the community within their area of expertise. Which in turn allows students to connect with mentors who can help them grow and develop within their industry.

How we built it

We build the visual prototype using Figma and then converted from Figma to flutter. Which allows us use the app on IOS, Android, and the web.

Challenges we ran into

Auto converting code from Figma had a few issues when trying to run out of the site in which it was converted.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

We are proud of the idea we came up with. It has potential to become a competitor with many online connection/mentoring apps once we refine it more. Swiping application on selection of Mentor by area so we give equal right to every mentor to be able to sell themselves.

What we learned

We learned that there is so much that goes into creating an app with real world use. From making it user friendly, deciding on an idea that is actually useful, how to sell it to the target audience, pros/cons of the stack we use, the different ways in which we can store user information

What's next for Uni-Career

Live tutoring sessions for students that are learning the same content in the area. This will have on demand recorded lessons. These lessons will have a transcript to allow users to access the information they want from a long video. Our on demand feature will also have FAQ questions with a direct link to the time stamp in the video which will have the tutors answers to FAQ
