Thegana Location Service

A Solution for the lack of Proper Address Lines in under-developed parts of the world to Catalyze E-commerce

Disclaimer: I have been made aware that there is a company named Thegana that provides locational services of a different nature. I am in no way affiliated to them and do not claim any rights to the name "Thegana". I am using this name just as the working title for my hackathon project submission.

What is Thegana?

Thegana is a tool that can be used by businesses both big and small to gain consentful information of a customer's address so that the product or service may be shipped to them more conveniently. This tool is aimed to be used by businesses to operate in locations where address lines aren't descriptive enough to identify a location for delivery. For example, the country of Nepal.

Why?

A major reason why businesses are not able to capitalize on e-commerce in some locations is because of the absence of a sufficiently granular addressing system. For instance, only a select few cities in Nepal have a accepatable addressing system to identify residencies and business locations. Addressing is based off a Landmark System where navigation is done in reference to certain landmarks that are commonly known. This creates a major inconvenience for the customer that may deter them from supplying currency to a business. This hinders economic growth and Thegana aims to solve it.

How does it work?

Thegana uses GPS to get the latitudes and longitudes of the delivery location of your choice, whether it be your home, office, or some other location. When Thegana gets the required coordinates, the algorithm generates a street view of the location so that you can exactly specify what building you want the article(s) delivered to.

Benifit: CONVENIENCE

The regular way deliveries are carried out by e-commerce sellers is via phone call. The delivery person initiates a phone call to the customer to schedule a time for delivery. This is extremely inconvenient as the customer must be present to receive the package. The customer is not able to allocate their time elsewhere, otherwise they may miss the delivery. The fact that delivery drivers are not always punctual does not aid this situation any further.

Providing instructions for a delivery based off a Landmark System is extremely tedious and requires a lot of coordination between the customer and the delivery person.

Thegana takes care of all the inconveniences faced by both the customer and the seller.

Technologies used to build Thegana

Although the idea of Thegana is simple, the inner workings of this application are very intricate. Thegana is interwoven with a whopping total of 6 APIs communicating with each other to generate a convenient user experience. The APIs in action are as follows:
