TheClearProject
Welcome to the next wave of humanitarianism.
The Problem
Too many different countries with different NGOs will go to the _ same _ location to implement the _ same _ humanitarian solution. This lack of collaboration, and the lack of long-term support for projects like water sustainability efforts have led to an link![unmanaged infrastructure]. ** Paying for a pipeline in a village is the sexiest act of philanthropy, but it doesn't take into account the long-term. And this helps no one. **
** The Solution **
TheClearProject hopes to take the first jab at this giant problem. Using a developing area of Kenya as a case study, we have created an end-to-end solution to being transparent and open about our issues. Our workflow goes as follows:
What it does
Tribal leaders/anyone with access to a satellite phone may text a TextBot to report a faulty water station.
This information is validated to the world via a live map with markers for each water station location.
An NGO/volunteer organization can sign up to fix this area, to which the concerned leaders in the lesser-developed nations may then be notified via text.
If and only if the leaders in the affected regions experience a betterment in their situation, they may update the status of the water station via text. Then, the world will see this live update.
How I built it
- Flask MicroFramework (organized in a Blueprint architecture format)
- Twilio textbots
- CSS/HTML websites
- mySQLITE3
Challenges I ran into
- Proper data validation between JS, Flask, Twilio, and SQL.
- Scope variables/reusability of code
- The wild ambition of three young men.
Accomplishments that I'm proud of
- Data visualization and a robust way to update it.
