We started by realizing that time is the most important thing one can give and that it's collective effort that can really bring big change (compared to directives or laws). Additionally we saw how much time is spent on mobile games, and studied how these games are carefully designed in order to keep people coming for more back every day. That's when we started TheCityGame; the app that empowers users to perform good actions for the environment and society in a rewarding and convenient way on a daily basis.
Users learn, are motivated and rewarded. Every accomplishment is measurable, rewarding and shareable, 3 key factors in creating a new, consistent, and loyal behavior and finally building a habit. Eventually users earn points to reach a social status, which represents how “good" they are.
Users have different levels of environmental and social awareness but TheCityGame serves the need for informing on what a good action is, how and where it can be performed, reminding users to perform actions, knowing the impact of each action, keeping users consistent with the behaviors they want to keep up, motivating towards performing these actions, creating communities of aware citizens, and having a platform to spread the word through challenges. We really believe in the power of inherent happiness that an individual feels when doing a good thing for the environment or the community.
As for user testing, we have attached our .apk, and added Casti Cimpian (https://www.facebook.com/casti.cimpian) to participate in our beta version. After the 15th anyone will be able to log in with Facebook, so this might not be needed.
