Inspiration
A frequent task in my school's theatre tech crew is to climb up a tall ladder and adjust the aim of the light fixture at dangerous heights. This mover light is created to address this crucial problem.
What it does
The mover light is an Arduino-controlled turret that is hung onto the ceiling, capable of panning 360 degrees and tilting 90 degrees forward, and able to light up multiple areas of the stage with powerful LEDs.
Progress
We were able to communicate to the arduino using industrial DMX communication. The mover can now be controlled with professional lighting consoles.
What's next for Theatre Mover Lights
Next up, we plan to design robust housing and mechanical systems, make the mover more user-friendly, and improve its performance through updating and optimizing software.
