Inspiration

I constantly faced workflow breaks while copying text, taking screenshots, and switching to AI tools in another window. This friction disrupted focus and slowed down real work. The idea came from wanting AI to come to my workflow, not the other way around.

What it does

The_AI_Gesture_Mouse turns the mouse into a context-aware AI co-pilot. With one deliberate AI button and simple gestures, users can capture any on-screen content, OCR it, summarize it, and send it to tools like IDEs or dashboards—without switching apps.

How we built it

We designed an Actions SDK plugin for Logitech devices that maps mouse gestures and a long-press AI button to smart actions. The system captures a user-selected screen region, runs local OCR, and optionally sends the text to an AI model for summarization or explanation.

Challenges we ran into

Balancing privacy with powerful AI features was a key challenge. OS-level permissions, enterprise security concerns, and ensuring reliable outputs without hallucinations required careful, privacy-first design choices.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

We created a clear, user-triggered AI workflow that feels instant and practical. The concept demonstrates a real productivity leap by removing app-switching friction and making AI accessible directly from hardware.

What we learned

We learned that hardware-triggered AI needs to be intentional, privacy-first, and simple to adopt. Great UX is about reducing cognitive load, not adding more features.

What's next for The_AI_Gesture_Mouse

Next, we plan to expand the mouse beyond productivity workflows into core system controls. The AI Gesture Mouse will enable secure computer power on/off, fingerprint-based screen lock and unlock, and one-click meeting controls like mute/unmute directly from the mouse.

Long term, our vision is to make the mouse more than just an accessory. It becomes a trusted hardware key for the computer—combining input, identity, and system control into a single physical gateway for secure, AI-powered computing.
