Inspiration
The project was inspired by the Catalan Atlas of 1375, a masterpiece of medieval cartography created by Abraham Cresques of Majorca. Its vivid depictions of kings, caravans, ships, and mythical lands captured how medieval Europe imagined the wider world. I wanted to see how these images might look if they were “filmed” centuries ago.
