Inspiration
The World Computer Project + Rapyd represents an extraordinary opportunity to bring all of the necessary technology pieces together – security, identity, trust, and scalable distributed/decentralized data with distributed ledger technology – to usher in revolutionary new digital capabilities on a global scale to accelerate global innovation and significantly advance human prosperity. Chief among these is the opportunity to socially engineer a guaranteed fair, transparent, and accountable financial system for everyone. Such a system would encompass a payments system using a built-in utilitarian cryptocurrency that facilitates value exchange between parties, as well as an immutable accounting system to irrefutably track and verify those exchanges over time. Integrating Rapyd – a global FinTech-as-a-Service platform directly into the World Computer operating system provides an unprecedented opportunity to create the world’s first real “attention economy” that is equitable for all.
What it does
I show a vision for a seamless ecommerce experience between buyer and seller skipping the traditional check out experience altogether as the World Computer operating system takes care of transacting the necessary micro-payments between buyer and seller seamlessly. Further, the integration of Rapyd’s “Fintech platform services” played a critical role in allowing users to monetize their value creation with seamless on/off ramping from/to local currencies.
How we built it
Everything is built with .Net and C#.
Challenges we ran into
None! Honestly! The Rapyd APIs where great! Documentation was clean and I really found the PostMan test suite super useful. And what questions I did have, the support folks on Slack where able to answer promptly. A shout out to Charles Dorsett!!
I did have a problem with my video uploads to Youtube. As a result the demo and pitch are separate. Please see other links for the actual pitch.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
Seeing Rapyd’s hosted pages being themselves hosted within a Windows native application.
What we learned
It is possible for anyone to do fast, frictionless ecommerce directly with others (i.e.; P2P) without the need for centralized servers.
What's next for The World Computer + Rapyd
I would love to explore with Rapyd the opportunity to use their APIs against an actual crypto currency wallet at the micro-payment level.
