Inspiration

What inspired me were my old teammates. They worked hard on their project, and I realized that I had to make something else since I did not have the resources on my computer to help them. With little time left, I worked on a Python word game. If someone wanted to play a word game with someone else, all they would have to do was run this code. Person 1 would sit on one side, Person 2 would sit on the other side so they could not see the screen. It would be more naturalistic, and Person 1 could read it out.

What it does

This word game is not like a typical two-player word game. Instead, only Player 1 gets to look at the code. The code asks Player 1 questions, and then it outputs information based on that which Player 1 gives to Player 2. It provides a more flexible, real-life way for fun games without two people having to look at a screen.

How we built it

I built it using a function in a Python code

Challenges I ran into

After many attempts with my teammates to use the Grove Arduino Beginner kit and make a Discord bot, we realized my computer wasn't able to do it. The only website we had access to for Arduino ran out of the daily limit, and the websites I needed were blocked since all I had was my school computer. In addition, time was a worry, but overall not an issue.

Accomplishments that I am proud of

While I did not make anything impressive, I made a code that was functional and could be used in real life. There is no limit to how many people can play this either. In fact, multiple people can be person one where one person decides the word and the second person is the narrator. Multiple people can also be person 2. There is no limit to how many guesses there are, so each person could collaborate and work together to find the word given the clues. Also, I made customizable hints where the longer the word is, the better the hint would be (You will be given more of the ending letters).

What we learned

I learned to be more prepared next time when coming to a hackathon. I didn't account for what would be blocked or what resources I would have access to.

What's next for The Word Guesser Maker

Since this is a function, I plan to incorporate it into a more extensive code. It's very customizable. In the future, I could add different hints based on the number of attempts someone made. I could make the hints even better, such as giving the vowels in the secret word. The code will also be cleaned up a lot.
