As university students we all have wasted countless hours on our phones when we're supposed to be studying. This takes away from the time we have to make the most of life, both in and outside of our university degrees. Existing solutions are either dumb boxes or are only software based, which in both cases can either make it all to easy to override or risk damaging an expensive device.

As such, we decided to build a piece of technology that integrates both software and hardware components to present a solution to this problem. Our system uses a variety of sensors to detect the presence of a phone and the conditions of the surrounding environment and feeds this data into a software package that encourages users to leave their phone in the device through gamefied features and social competition.
