Inspiration
My inspiration for Weather Wise traces back to a science project I did in sixth grade. I created a device that measured temperature and humidity using Arduino and sensors. This project ignited my curiosity about finding a simpler way to access weather information for any city without physically being there.
What it does
Weather Wise is your one-stop destination for real-time temperature and humidity data from cities worldwide. In addition to providing standard weather information, we offer intuitive graphs and comparative models, making it easy to understand the relationship between temperature and humidity. Our app also features a five-day weather forecast, complete with time and date details and hourly weather changes.
How we built it
We developed Weather Wise using the Replit IDE. The project consists of three main components: a graph section, code to fetch weather data from OpenWeatherMap, and various labels. We dynamically change the top heading based on the selected city.
Challenges we ran into
The main challenges included finding the correct API to fetch weather data and resolving errors related to missing files due to limitations on my school computer. I had to figure out how to download necessary files directly within the Replit environment.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
I'm proud of successfully displaying the weather data and enhancing the app's overall aesthetics to improve user experience.
What we learned
This experience taught me the importance of using a personal computer for such projects and highlighted the advantages of using HTML for website development due to its better formatting capabilities.
What's next for Weather Wise
Future plans for Weather Wise include interactive graphs, an air quality indicator, and a hot spots map of the world, aiming to provide a comprehensive weather experience for users.
