Inspiration
The film “Shlyakh” was inspired by the idea of the journey as a universal metaphor for human life. I was moved by trains, subways, and the feeling of constant motion — symbols of memory, solitude, hope, and connection.
What I Learned
While working on this project, I learned how AI can be more than just a tool: it became a creative partner. It taught me to trust in accidents and imperfections, and to transform abstract reflections about existence into powerful visual metaphors.
How I Built the Project
The film was built entirely with AI tools like MidJourney, Runway, Kling, and Sora. Each frame was carefully conceived through cinematic prompts and refined iteratively to create a consistent poetic style. I constructed the narrative as a mosaic of symbolic vignettes — portraits, surreal landscapes, subway journeys, and intimate human moments — all tied together by a reflective voiceover.
Challenges
The greatest challenges were conceptual and technical. Conceptually, it was difficult to find balance between metaphor and clarity, between surreal images and emotional truth. Technically, the challenge was to achieve stylistic consistency across multiple AI models that don’t “think” the same way. I also faced the limitation of building emotional depth without live actors or traditional cinematography — relying instead on AI-driven imagery and editing choices to carry the weight of the story.
