Inspiration

To use AI technology to express a profoundly emotional human idea about entrapment and escape using AI tools fused with the language of cinema, inspired by classic art films of the 1950s and 60s and some great commercials

What it does

Tells a timeless story without words, using sound and score to express a simple but powerful idea

How we built it

Using 100% AI tools for the front end to design, generate, alter, create, animate and upscale the imagery to very precise creative guidelines and then using human hands in the back end for the editing, sound design, voice performance and music to create a genuinely hybrid piece of art that fuses AI technology with human soul and emotion.

Challenges we ran into

Character and location consistency from one shot to the next were the most significant challenges.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

To have created a piece of work that has been recognised and selected to play in competiton at both full AI Film Festivals and also traditional film festivals, that has held up spectacularly on some of the biggest screens in Los Angeles and carries a message/emotional intent that peaks to people and shows them the possibilities of the technology and how it can keep human emotion central to its use and progress.

What we learned

AI imagery really benefits from having a bold confident style that processes reality with a unique voice. Blending human inputs with fully AI inputs brings emotionality and storytelling voice into the machine

What's next for The Wall

It will continue its festival run and has been chosen to represent AI storytelling at forums and symposiums (such as Synthetic Narratives at the Stevens Institute of Technology)
