Inspiration

I wanted to tell a story about time, nature, and resilience — how the world changes endlessly, but one tree continues to stand.

What it does

The Tree is a 60-second AI film showing one tree across thousands of years. The world shifts around it — dinosaurs, ancient civilizations, modern cities, destruction, rebirth — but the tree remains the constant center of the story.

How we built it

We used AI video tools to generate 20 scenes, each representing a different era. By using consistent start-frame and end-frame techniques, every shot keeps the same tree in the same position, creating a seamless time-travel effect.

Challenges we ran into

Making the tree perfectly consistent across all scenes, balancing realism with stylized visuals, and keeping the transitions smooth while the environment changes dramatically.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

The film was selected as an Official Selection for the Beyond The Prompt Contest and screened at the Forward Festival in Berlin. We also created a visually coherent “single-tree universe” across many eras.

What we learned

Small visual consistency creates big emotional impact. AI tools can help build long-timeline stories quickly, but worldbuilding still requires careful planning. Nature-themed storytelling becomes powerful when you focus on one simple anchor.

What's next for The Project

Expanding the concept into a longer short film, exploring post-human Earth, introducing alien visitors to a reborn planet, and developing more variations of historical and sci-fi timelines.
