What is it
The transistor is a semi conductor device used for amplification and switching purposes. It is the building block of modern electronics. The transistor was the second generation of computer, from 1959 - 1965. This device has three terminals; Gate, Source and Drain. The transistor can either be forward, backward or zero bias. They are used in applications ranging from computers and electronics to communications technology such as smartphones. The CMOS battery is seen as a component in the motherboard. They are also used in designing logic circuit. The advantages of the transistors are numerous. There are different types of Transistor namely: MOSFET(Metal Oxide Semiconductor Field Effect Transistor) ,FET (Field Effect Transistor), BJT(Bipolar Joint Transistor) etc.
Who built it
Transistors were developed in the year 1947 by an American physicists named John Bardeen. The invention of the first transistor at Bell Labs was named an IEEE Milestone in 2009
What's next for Computing
With the advancement of computers from Vacuum Tubes to Transistor to Integrated Circuit down to Microprocessor and Artificial intelligence, I can say that we have gone a long way in making computing devices portable, affordable and reliable.
