Inspiration

Something often spoken about in discussions of gender theory is Plato's Allegory of the Cave; when it was originally written, it was more so about existential concepts of life, but in recent years it has been oft reinterpreted as a quintessential story of understanding gender identity and thinking of gender outside of a strict binary.

In light of this as well as recent and intense anti-LGBT rhetoric in Texas, our team (a group of queer developers) decided to create a game about trying to leave the cave and the obstacles in the way-- while jumping over perilous spikes and navigating tunnels, players will need to fight larger than life bills and in the end, the very state of Texas itself.

Sadly, we did not get to fully finish this project but you can check out what we were able to make on itch!

Stuff we're proud of

The physics system as well as structure gives a lot of difficult gameplay as well as various strategies to complete it. We hope that it's reminiscent to older metroidvanias like Hollow Knight and Metroid!

How we built it
