Inspiration
With people at home, social media traffic is constantly increasing with more people trying to express themselves. However, for some people understanding the connotation can be more difficult in an online environment. We created The Tone indicator Mark 2 to allow users to feel better and more confident understanding tone of any sentence.
What it does
Our program identifies the tone of any written post and categorizes it into three different tones: Sarcastic, Aggressive and Genuine.
How we built it
With Python and google we developed an application from scratch. We used feature extraction-Count vectorizer from the Scikit learn library that allowed us to find trends in common combinations of tones.
Challenges we ran into
Cleaning text data is extremely difficult, this took a majority of our time.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
We began this competition with less than a year of experience between all three members and developed this application from scratch.
What we learned
How to use all python libraries like Pandas, Numpy and Scikit learn. We also learned about semantic processing and how to implement it.
What's next for The Tone indicator Mark 2
We will add more tones to expand to our existing 3 and include more examples with context. ObMHsbGTh9B3v-Un2BSPdRmvLA?usp=sharing
