Inspiration

Terminator, I Robot, all science fiction with after world collapse stories.

What it does

Portrays the Ai left behind with a sense of humanity.

How we built it

I used AI tools including Veo2, Veo 3, Wan 2.1, Wan 2.2, Chatterbox, and Stable Audio. I used the specific tool for the needs of the scene. Veo2, Veo 3 for scenes with dialog, Wan 2.1, Wan 2.2 to extend scenes and scenes with no dialog. Since no lip syncing was used Chatterbox to extend VO scenes and stable audio to create effects and music

Challenges we ran into

Extending the length of clips, trying to make sure they appeared seamless. Also choosing an ending to a story like this, it really could go on with sub-stories forever.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

Is giving them a feeling of humanity instead of just being machines.

What we learned

having a good outline script and creating visuals that fulfill the story's pacing.

What's next for The Things They Left Running

Not sure. There is room for hundreds of stories in this universe. My thoughts have been on the young, how do they grow, what happens as they get older. Do they replace signs of humanity with their own structures and society, or do they continue and try to complete the tasks from humans they where built for.
