Inspiration
The goal was to merge artificial intelligence with culture and creativity — letting art “speak for itself.” This platform invites people of all ages to experience a museum in a fresh, engaging way, where curiosity leads to conversation and learning. Instead of walking through a silent gallery, you’re talking directly to the painting itself not just a boring guide , which make the experience more fun
What it does
The Taking Artworks is an interactive AI-powered virtual art museum that reimagines how we experience and engage with artworks. Instead of passively viewing art, visitors interact with the pieces through conversation. Each artwork has a unique personality, tone, and voice, powered by AI-generated responses tailored to its story, style, and meaning.
How we built it
HTML, CSS: For layout, styling, and responsiveness JavaScript: For handling interactions and dynamic text logic GitHub Pages: To host and deploy the website ChatGPT (AI prompt guidance): To simulate responses and refine the project flow
Challenges we ran into
Designing a conversation system without using backend APIs Making each artwork feel unique using static JS logic Keeping it simple, light, and accessible while still being immersive implementiong APIs to make it look more of an AI
Accomplishments that we're proud of
Turning an idea into a real, working project—despite the challenges Creating an engaging user experience without relying on complex backend systems Staying consistent, even when we had to restart or rethink parts of the project Collaborating as a team for the first time and making it through with patience and creativity Working under pressure and completing everything within just 48 hours
What we learned
The importance of patience—from bugs to creative blocks, we had to push through many roadblocks How to collaborate and combine different skills, especially since this was our first group project A deeper understanding of HTML, CSS, and JavaScript, especially in creating interactive, user-friendly features How to adapt and pivot when the original plan didn’t work How to stay focused and efficient under tight deadlines—we learned how much we could achieve in just two days
What's next for The talking artworks.
