Inspiration

As a space nerd, I often find myself in a pickle trying to find certain interesting astronomical events. Search engines take too long and are often inaccurate for more complex information. So I decided to tackle this issue! This would be useful for anyone who needs information about space events.

What it does

It uses Wolfram to compute different astronomical events based on user input. For example, if a user wanted to know when the next solar eclipse was after March 31, 2027, the program can tell them. The program can do other computations and plots as well!

How I built it

I used React to build the web app; Javascript and CSS alongside it. The Wolfram API was used to perform 8 different API calls for calculations and plots.

Challenges I ran into

Learning to integrate Wolfram to a Javascript program.

Accomplishments that I'm proud of & What I learned

Learning Wolfram Mathematica, programming with a cloud computing service for the first time, and learning how to deploy APIs! Learning all this by myself was difficult but fun!

What's next for The Stellar Oracle

Further utilizing Wolfram's API methods for more commands. Also allowing users to input more compx data for more complex output in return! Expanding to other celestial bodies would be great too.
