In 2020, the World Health Organization (WHO) concluded that each year 1.35 million people are killed on roadways worldwide. Almost 3700 people have been killed globally in these crashes. It has also been noted that most of the fatal accidents have occurred due to over speeding vehicles, second to distracted drivers. More than half of those killed are pedestrians hit by over speeding vehicles, they as well make up for the greatest share of the working-age population between 15 and 64 years old. The WHO has reported that road traffic fatalities unfortunately affect low- and middle-income countries, where 90% of global road deaths occur. They are hence a public health concern that must be addressed. Action must be taken to address this ever-growing public health problem throughout the world, with a special focus on developing countries. The WHO has ranked Uganda among the countries with the highest traffic death rates, an estimated 29 car deaths per 100,000 people. According to the Uganda Police Force (UPF) annual report of 2021, a 42% increase was observed in the number of road crashes, from 12,249 to 17,443. Of these road crashes, 3757 crashes were fatal, and 4616 were minor. In partnership with other road safety stakeholders in the country, the UPF has consistently implemented measures to improve road safety, including deployment of traffic officers, campaigns regarding road safety, among others. Unfortunately, with all these road safety implementations put in place, the road accident rate is still increasing.

The Speed Notifier Limited is a new company that manufactures gadgets that are installed in cars / buses and detects when the driver has exceeded the speed limit on the particular road and warns the driver that he/she has passed the speed limit by emitting a slow beeping sound. The tool has a Global Positioning System that detects the road the driver is on, uses artificial intelligence to determine the speed limit on that particular road, and notifies the driver (in the event the speed limit was exceeded) through the beeping sound. The device is connected to the car’s speedometer to detect over speeding. This gadget is linked to a mobile application linked to the driver’s smart phone (which is accessible after purchasing the gadget) and notifies the driver not only on the gadget but on his/her phone as

well. The mobile application has a set default speed target for which the driver could set and drive at for a whole week or month. The application can as well be connected to a driver’s smart watch where by notifications of over speeding will as well be sent. The expected clientele and partners include; the government “Ministry on Works and Transport”, Bus companies, Driving Schools, Road accident survivors, new car owners, to mention but a few. Currently, there is no level of competition considering, it is the only one in the market. This company will strive to deliver two main things. Firstly, a quality product, and secondly a consistent quality standard in the product. Furthermore, our sole purpose as an organization is to by a considerable amount eradicate the number of road accidents that occur due to over speeding vehicles. As our shibboleth says “Drive to fulfill not to kill.
