Inspiration

The Spark began as a personal experiment to see if a short story made entirely with AI could make me feel something real. I wanted to explore whether technology could move me emotionally, not just impress me visually.

What it does

It’s a short AI-generated film that follows a girl living in a monotone, sketch-like world. When she receives a letter from her mother, color slowly returns. That letter awakens the feeling that she should create again, not only for herself but for others to enjoy. The spark of emotion becomes creativity, and she immerses herself in her art, finally feeling alive again.

How we built it

I combined generative video tools with an original soundtrack that I tailored in real time based on my own emotional feedback. The visual style alternates between black-and-white sketches representing monotony and vivid colors symbolizing inspiration returning. Each scene was refined through many iterations to capture the emotional timing of that transformation.

Challenges we ran into

Maintaining visual consistency for the character and the environment was difficult. Some transitions and cuts required multiple iterations to find the right frame that felt true to the moment. The result isn’t perfect, but it’s honest.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

I hope that the film evokes a genuine feeling. It started as an experiment, but it became something deeply personal, a reminder that creativity and emotion can coexist with AI.

What we learned

I learned that AI can be more than a tool. When guided by emotion, it can become part of a dialogue with creativity itself. The process taught me to listen, adjust, and shape the story based on how it made me feel.

What's next for The Spark

I haven’t pushed it out for feedback yet, but I hope people will connect with it. The Spark is just the beginning. I’d like to continue exploring emotional storytelling through AI, where sound, image, and feeling grow together to form something truly human.
