Inspiration
Zork, text-based adventures, love of science-fiction and silly stories
What it does
Simple text-based story driven adventure game that the user can interact with and direct.
How we built it
Java, employed some basic OOP concepts to create various objects with their own attributes and methods that can be accessed from the main/"driver" class.
Challenges we ran into
Not planning enough led to some issues and wasted time. If I tried to do this again - and I probably will - I'd definitely map out all of my objects and their necessary relationships before I started coding.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
Astronaut Ice Cream, the relative success of the project, the number of classes and their semi-successful interaction. This was definitely cooler than most of the projects I completed in prog. 1 and I'm pretty proud of it generally speaking even though it's a little rinky-dink.
What we learned
UML diagrams are actually pretty important when working with a lot of classes
What's next for The Space Race
ASCII art, random encounters, dialogue options, some kind of navigation, conclusion
