🌌 Inspiration

Traditional portfolios often feel static and uninspiring. I wanted to reimagine how developers present themselves — turning my journey into a gamified space adventure where recruiters can explore my skills like discovering new worlds.

🚀 What it does

->The Space Dock is an interactive 3D gamified portfolio. Instead of scrolling through text, visitors: ->Navigate a cosmic world with joystick-style camera controls ->Explore planets representing my projects and skills ->Experience cinematic loaders and animations for immersion See my journey as a developer come alive in space

🛠️ How we built it Frontend: React, React Three Fiber (R3F), Three.js Animations & UI: Framer Motion 3D Assets: Custom models + @react-three/drei utilities Deployment: Vercel for fast hosting Design: Iterative testing to balance fun, responsiveness, and smooth controls

⚡ Challenges we ran into Fine-tuning camera sensitivity for smooth but responsive joystick controls Maintaining performance with multiple 3D models and animations Ensuring responsiveness (keeping layout consistent across breakpoints like 770px vs 768px) Balancing game-like experience with professional presentation

🏆 Accomplishments that we’re proud of

Built a fully working 3D gamified portfolio from scratch Delivered smooth PUBG-style camera controls Designed a portfolio that feels more like an adventure than a resume

📚 What we learned

How to optimize React Three Fiber for performance in real-world projects The importance of UX in gamification (not just visuals, but smooth interactions How to merge creativity with technical skill to stand out from traditional portfolios

🔮 What's next for The Space Dock (by Zaheer)

Add achievements/XP system for recruiters exploring projects Implement mini-games inside planets for deeper engagement Expand to a multiplayer “recruiter explorer” mode Enhance accessibility and mobile controls Keep evolving it as my living, growing portfolio

A cosmic journey through my projects and skills. ✨
