Inspiration
Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry (/ˈhɒɡwɔːrts/) is a fictional Scottish boarding school of magic for students aged eleven to eighteen, and is the primary setting for the first six books in J. K. Rowling's Harry Potter series and serves as a major setting in the Wizarding World universe.
The very first thing to happen when you arrive at Hogwarts is to find out whether you’re a Gryffindor, Slytherin, Ravenclaw or Hufflepuff and that's what the Sorting Cap loved doing in the Sorting Ceremony. The essence of this project lies in the random assignment of one of those houses.
What it does
->In this project, the 4 houses at Hogwarts are randomly allocated.
->The trigger to select one amongst these 4 is opening the mouth.
->What's without the theme tune hence there it is, of course, it's the sorting ceremony after all.
->The snow blizzard can't be missed if one is at Hogwarts and thus the VFX in the project.
How we built it
The project is built using Lens Studio. Audio, VFX, Helper Scripts, Tweens, Behavioral scripts, and randomization were used to implement it.
Another tool used was Blender for the 3D modeling.
Challenges we ran into
Adjusting the Sorting Cap to fit the best was challenging. Though I tried my best to get it located to suit the best, I still feel that it requires more adjustment to fit better.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
Thinking of something creative and entertaining and coming up with something related to the Potterheads is one thing I feel glad about. Secondly achieving what I thought of step by step is another thing I feel to be an accomplishment.
What we learned
For the first time, I triggered a random selection using face interaction and experimented with the tweens.
What's next for The Sorting Ceremony
The next for the Sorting ceremony is to be able to have a 3D virtual tour of the common rooms f each of the randomly assigned houses which I couldn't implement this time due to lack of time for designing the models for those rooms.
