Inspiration

I was inspired by the image of a lone Templar knight, standing among the ruins of a fallen castle. The sound of crows and distant bells, together with the rain, created the perfect atmosphere to portray solitude, resilience, and the weight of silence after battle.

What it does

My video transports the viewer into that moment of isolation. It doesn’t just show a soldier — it makes you feel his loneliness, his strength, and the ghostly echoes of a war that has already ended.

How we built it

I created it using AI-generated visuals combined with rain effects and haunting sound design. I carefully layered the sounds of crows and bells to deepen the atmosphere, and edited the scene to highlight the knight’s isolation in slow, cinematic pacing.

Challenges we ran into

The biggest challenge was making everything feel natural and authentic — the rain, the sound, the emotion. I wanted to avoid a “fantasy look” and instead reach a mood closer to historical realism.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

I managed to create a short piece that feels like a fragment of medieval memory captured on film. It’s dark, emotional, and immersive. For me, it’s not just a clip — it’s an experience.

What we learned

I learned how powerful minimalism can be in storytelling. With just sound, atmosphere, and a single character, it’s possible to transmit deep emotions and leave a strong impact.

What's next for The Solitude of the last soldier

I want to expand this concept into more short medieval cinematic scenes. Each one will explore different parts of the knight’s journey: faith, loyalty, sacrifice, loss, and eternal legend.
