Inspiration

Crypto has become increasingly more popular overtime, and many people are using crypto despite not knowing a lot about it. People are often too embarrassed to seek help, but Crypto scams are a multi-billion dollar industry that many people fall prey to. Whether its direct scams by sending payments to a high-risk wallet, or getting rug-pulled on a meme coin, we hope to educate people before they spend their money.

What it does

  1. Gemini-powered chatbot "The Sheriff" that allows users to ask questions about real-life scenarios that they think may be scams. Users can also turn on text-to-speech for the responses, or speak to "The Sheriff" with voice-to-text all powered by ElevenLabs.
  2. Data analytics with risk assessment for user-submitted wallet addresses or coin/tokens. Users don't even need a technical background to understand the data, as Gemini determines the risk level and provides and explanation in natural-language.
  3. Curated resource hub of information related to crypto-scams to allow users to educate themselves.

How we built it

We used the Gemini API to power our chatbot, and ElevenLabs' API to incorporate text-to-speech functions. Data collection for crypto wallets and for coin/tokens is done through the Helius API before being sent to Gemini's API to assess the risk associated with it. The application core is built on Typescript and React, hosted on DigitalOcean.

Challenges

The biggest challenge we came across was not in building the app itself, but in deciding how we were going to collect our data and what data to deem as risky in our system prompt.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

We are proud to have a completed MVP for of product that is fully hosted on DigitalOcean. We believe that we have made a real tool that can be helpful in educating people to avoid common scams.

What we learned

During this hackathon we learned how to develop a product from Idea to Production to Hosting. Our product implements APIs, aggregates data, and is a fullstack application that can actually be used to help people.

What's next for The Solana Sheriff

We hope to continue to refine the risk analysis sections and include more data for the risk prediction, create a flag system for us to label known high-risk wallets, and continue to build our community with a testimonial hub, allowing users to tell their story with crypto scams to avoid them in the future
