Inspiration

We created The Sepulchre Adventure as a mysterious and beautiful space for players to explore, combining parkour, discovery, and emotional narrative.

After launch, we noticed that while players enjoyed the ambiance and design, there was little motivation to return. That inspired us to rethink progression, replayability, and social features without sacrificing the mood and soul of the game.

What it does

The update introduces a full progression system with coins and unlockable cosmetics, new quests, puzzle rooms, and dozens of interactable elements.

It also adds a shareable experience layer with selfie spots, a photo collage board, and improved mobile-friendly transitions.

Players can now explore, collect, compete, and create content all within a compact and optimized mobile experience.

How we built it

We worked within Horizon Worlds on Meta Quest, reusing some assets while remapping many areas for better flow and secret discovery.

We added new coin logic, item shops, and leaderboard systems using Verse scripting. The update also includes newly created UI, optimized lights, audio assets, and over 30 new interactable or animated elements.

We built everything with mobile-first constraints in mind: performance, clarity, and short-session engagement.

Challenges we ran into

-Keeping performance high while adding new systems and visuals for mobile.

-Designing a progression system that feels rewarding without breaking immersion.

-Remapping without losing the original atmosphere of the sepulchre.

-Making transitions smooth and accessible on all devices, especially mobile.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

-Created an engaging reason to return, through coin-based progression and quests.

-Added highly shareable social features (selfies, leaderboards, photoboards).

-Rebalanced difficulty and improved UX to be mobile-first and frustration-free.

-Optimized the entire world to run smoother and lighter on mobile devices.

What we learned

We learned how to turn a beautiful world into a replayable, social game without losing its identity. We improved our skills in Verse scripting, optimization for mobile, and user-focused design.

Most importantly, we listened to our players and transformed their feedback into tangible improvements.

What's next for The Sepulchre Adventure

Next, we want to expand the item shop with more cosmetics and build a seasonal reward system. We're planning even deeper puzzle-based areas and more tunnels and exploring areas.

Our goal is to continue building a narrative-rich adventure where every return feels meaningful, emotionally, visually, and socially.
