Inspiration
We wanted to reimagine a Disney-style fairytale with a deliciously wicked twist. What if a magic school didn’t train heroes — but villains? Inspired by Maleficent’s patronizing wit, gothic animation, and the playful chaos of classic Disney 3D worlds, The School of Magic & Mischief was born.
What it does
It’s a short cinematic experience that drops the viewer into an enchanted academy where nothing behaves as expected. Mirrors judge, potions giggle, cauldrons bite, and every “mistake” is rewarded with mischief. Through AI narration, music, and visuals, the project brings a whimsical dark fairytale to life.
How we built it
We combined multiple AI tools to craft a unified cinematic style:
ElevenLabs for narration and sound effects, tuned to a Maleficent-like villain tone.
Epidemic Sound for atmospheric background music.
Komiko AI (anime base + Gemini Nanobanana) to generate image and video sequences in a consistent Disney 3D style.
Careful prompt design and scene sequencing to weave together narration, visuals, and magical effects into a cohesive story.
Challenges we ran into
Achieving stylistic consistency across mirror, potion, and outdoor scenes.
Avoiding “AI-generic” phrasing for narration — it needed personality, bite, and humor.
Balancing whimsy with darkness: too scary would break the Disney vibe, too cute would lose the villain edge.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
Created a complete villain-narrated fairytale experience using only AI tools.
Designed visually rich, cinematic prompts that tell a progressive story instead of disjointed clips.
Found a unique creative voice for the narrator that feels playful, dark, and truly magical.
What we learned
Storytelling with AI requires more than prompts — it’s about rhythm, tone, and pacing.
Consistency across different AI tools is achievable with careful prompt engineering and clear narrative vision.
Villain voices are more fun than hero voices.
What's next for The School of Magic & Mischief
Expanding the short film into a longer episodic series with more mischievous lessons.
Adding interactive elements, where viewers choose potions or spells that alter the story’s outcome.
Experimenting with live narration + visuals for performances or installations.
