Our project is a dynamic platform called The Scholarly Exchange, where you can login with an account and add any essays or works of literature that you have created to the platform. Once you do this another registered user will be able to read over and comment on your works and tell you what possible edits and changes. We created this website due to the need for a unified space where individuals can connect. Our platform acts as a bridge that works to connect emerging researchers seeking constructive feedback with veteran academics and professors to nurture and grow rising talent. Along with the first service the Scholarly Exchange also allows users to read our curated collection of cutting edge research articles to be informed and at the forefront of any scientific breakthroughs. Our platform and community are built for all researchers that want to expand their horizons whether it be a graduate student refining your first manuscript, a postdoctoral researcher exploring new methodologies, or an established professor looking to contribute to the next generation of scholarship, our platform provides the tools and community support necessary to reach new heights in STEM. Our motto is “empowering quality research through quality collaboration”, we as a group want to make sure that through equalizing access to peer reviews, we’re able to create a friendly and collaborative environment where ideas can flourish and scholarship is able to fully bloom.

We tried using a template at first, and the one that we used had features that were overly complex to use, so we built ours from scratch. This choice made us more in control but was not without its problems. With no format to work from, we had to create everything, the database, right up to the interface from scratch. The addition of features such as peer review, collaboration tools, and security checks always needed thorough testing and debugging. Small snippets of badly written code frequently resulted in systemic issues, and debug was a nightmare. Regardless of the challenges we faced, by starting over it enabled us to comprehend our code better and become more efficient, ultimately building exactly what represents our dream.

Our greatest achievement was creating a clean and simple interface that is visually pleasing and our API being able acquire server settings according to requirements quickly and accurately. Although at first a template was used, The Scholarly Exchange is constructed by us from beginning to end so that we can have absolute design freedom. This approach allowed us to create a system that was not only easy on the eyes but also highly functional as well. A highlight of our work was that seamless integration between our CSS and HTML front end and Java back end. This smooth integration was allowed through our creativity to combine design with technology. Our persistence in creating the program from scratch showed our commitment to quality and innovation.
