Inspiration
Have you ever had a family member who leaves the faucet on while they brush their teeth? Do any of your family members take 40 minute showers? If you answered yes to any of those questions, you need help. According to a recent article done by The Washington Post, California has lost approximately 63 trillion gallons of water in the past 18 months.
What it does
Tracks the amount of water a family uses in one day. It gives each member an incentive to save water in a fun and engaging manner.
How we built it
We built a prototype concept which would display how much water intake a family uses versus the neighborhood. Includes a point system that evaluates whether you are wasting water or not.
Challenges we ran into
Due to a lack of a desktop monitor, we weren't able to code the raspberry pi but we were able to create a website
Accomplishments that we're proud of
Getting an understanding of a topic that we have never learned before and feeling proud of coming up with a process and carrying it out one step at a time
What we learned
You can do and learn a lot in a day
What's next for The Save Water Challenge
